Bare white walls, concrete floors, living out of a backpack...!?
That's what I thought "minimalism" meant when I first heard about it! After having kids and becoming overwhelmed with all of the "stuff" that we had, I decided to change my ways. I was so stressed out about finding places to put everything, and I couldn't imagine continuing to live that way. Enter minimalism. I watched a few Minimal Mom videos on YouTube, read some books, and started decluttering our house. The results and the peace that we feel as a family are astounding.
So what is "minimalism"? It's simply being intentional with your belongings. You should own your stuff-- not the other way around! I hope you enjoy the resources in this section; the goal is to inspire you to think about what you own in a different way.
Minimalism isn't just for your home, but for your closet, too! I love this challenge because it really forces you to think about what you actually wear every day, and what you actually need. I did this with my husband multiple times, and each time we feel great about getting rid of clothes that we ended up not missing at all.
I really like this interview that Rachel Cruze does with The Minimalists! They talk about the surprising (but not so surprising...) way that they decided to become minimalists. And, as the title states-- 5 Surprising Signs of Hoarding!
I also enjoy this challenge from the brand wool&: Wear one of their dresses for 30 or 100 days straight and get a gift card! You can learn more about the challenge here.
I did the 30-day challenge in September of 2025 with this dress and really enjoyed it. It is one of my (warm-weather) closet staples now, and works great for maternity and nursing as well!
