My husband and I started ballroom dancing in 2020, right after we moved to the East Coast. We love being able to go out social dancing once or twice a month-- a very unique and fun date night! It's so fun to dance and also to watch other people dance at socials. It feels like we're taking part in an art that has been lost in the ages. The ability to actually dance to music. What a concept! Anyways, we take classes once a week which is also a great built-in date night for us, and it gives us something to do and to work on as a couple. Our favorite dances so far are Waltz, Foxtrot, and Bolero, but we have also learned Samba, ChaCha, Rumba, Tango, Hustle, East Coast Swing, Night Club Two-Step, and Salsa. We like to tell ourselves that as long as we don't stop, by the time we're 70 we'll know all the dances and (hopefully) be amazing dancers!
Here are a few short videos of different types of ballroom dancing that we've been practicing. Obviously, these are professionals who make it look so easy and beautiful, but essentially we learn the same steps in our weekly classes!
