Being post-partum is such an interesting time. You are relieved that baby has FINALLY arrived, but you find yourself also extremely tired and in the process of healing, both physically and mentally. I link to my favorite things in this section, either related to being a mom in post-partum or certain baby items that can make this season a little easier.
Copper Pearl Nursing Covers
I love these nursing covers! In the pictures on Amazon, they just look like carseat covers, but they are the main nursing cover that I use. I first I thought I would get a little claustrophic by using a large tube-shaped piece of fabric (which is what these are), but I was pleasantly surprised to find them stretchy enough where I could basically make my own little tent for nursing. I would sit with one foot across my other knee, and then hook part of the cover on my toe to give me a ton of space.
Haakaa Manual Breast Pumps
I wish I had known about these Haakaa manual breast pumps for my first baby! I thought it was always super annoying to take out the full electric pump with all its parts, tubes, battery, etc, even if I just needed a tiny bit of relief while night weaning! Eventually, I don't remember how, I learned about this manual pump, which is perfect for relieving pressure for engorgement, night-weaning, and normal weaning. It's so easy to clean and use, and conveniently small and light. I personally like the Gen. 1 version, without the section cup bottom, but I'm sure the other versions work great as well.
Nursing Pillow - Blessed Nest "Nesting Pillow"
After trying multiple nursing pillows, I tried this Nesting Pillow from a friend and immediately thought "Where has this pillow been my whole life?!" Maybe that's an exagerration, but I definitely needed this at the beginning of my nursing journey!
Meal Trains for Families with Newborns
I am a big proponent of having a friend organize a meal Meal Train for you, for after baby is born! Not only is it helpful and takes the stress of cooking out of the equation with a newborn baby, but also creates a sense of a community. What could be better than friends showing up at your door with a wonderful home-cooked meal, stopping to see the baby, and maybe hanging out to chat about how everything is going?
Of course, it's also fun to be on the giving end of the meal train too, and cooking for a friend who's just had a new baby! I like to use the website MealTrain.com, but there are plenty others like TakeThemAMeal.com as well.
Babywearing - Boba Baby Wrap
I personally love baby-wearing, especially in the first 6 months. I share some links here, one to the Boba Wrap that I have (in 2 colors!) and the video that I used to learn how to wear it. I found official video on the Boba website not as helpful.
There are so many kinds of wraps and baby carrying devices, it's so hard to know what type will work for you. Although I found the Boba Wrap to work for me (I received one as a hand-me-down), I recommend trying to attend a baby-wearing group (for example, like this one, in Massachusetts) to see what works for you. You can also do a bit of research online and buy a few types of baby-wearing devices on FB marketplace as well!
