I used to pride myself in the fact that I was one of those girls who "just doesn't" cook. In an effort to show my now-husband that I was wife-material, I ditched the pride and started my culinary journey. Ten years later, I absolutely love cooking and baking! Trying new recipes, modifying old ones, tasting unexpected flavor-combinations... there's whole new world to unlock with this "thing" called cooking. Here are some of my favorite resources to help inspire you to try something new!
I love the recipes on this website-- Tieghan has a way of putting ingredients together that makes meals taste better-than-a-restuarant quality. A good portion of the recipes are also not too difficult to make, and very approachable! I usually opt for one Half-Baked Harvest recipe per week in my meal planning, to satisfy the foodie in me. The only reason why I don't make her recipes every day is that they do in fact require more ingredients than other recipes (hence their tastiness!)
99% of the baking recipes I use are from Sally's Baking Addiction. The team there does an AMAZING job of testing each of their recipes. I know whatever I choose to make from her website will turn out great.
My favorite tip from the website is for making 6-inch 3-tier cakes -- which are the perfect size for small family gatherings and kids' birthday parties. Basically, you can take any 12-15 cupcake recipe and turn it into a 6-inch cake! You can read more about it here.
Below are some pictures of some 6-inch cakes that I adapted from some of Sally's Baking Addiction's cupcake recipes.
