One of things I am grateful for about being a stay-at-home mom is the ability to have (some) free time to pursue my hobbies. I can just imagine, if I had to work outside the home, that any free time I had I would 100% want to spend it all with my kids, and I would feel horribly guilty if I did something for myself. But because I am able to be with my kids all the time, when I do have a break here and there, I relish the alone time and the time to be creative. It helps to refresh me in ways that other things (reading, exercising, dancing) just can't!
I hope this section gives you some inspiration and some starting points for some fun, crafty hobbies!
I love to create yearly (and vacation-themed) photo-books for our family! I started the tradition while my husband and I were still dating; I made a photo-book for the first year we were together, and I decided to keep it going ever since,. I love being able to pick & choose my favorite photos (that would otherwise be stuck on my phone) and make them into beautiful arrangements that our family can enjoy and look back on.
At the end of every month, I pick my favorite photos and plop them into a 10"x10" book like this on Shutterfly. After I'm done with my photobook, I wait for their 50% Off Everything deal, which seems to happen once a quarter, and buy my book then! Their software is easy to use and I find the print quality to be great.
I've been loving the tutorials from Let's Make Art for the past 5 years. It has brought joy and fun back into my painting! Sarah's tutorials have allowed me to let go of my persnickety nature and just let myself paint and not be worried about the outcome. I've learned so much from the tutorials. It's like my own personal art class at home!
Here are some pictures of the artwork I created while following LMA's latest tutorials!
I started these during COVID, right after moved across the country. It was so much fun to create this little guys, and they make great gifts friends (or toys for toddlers!)
Here are some of my favorite knitting patterns on Etsy! The patterns are easy to follow, and the yarn recommended for these patterns are absolutely beautiful and soft.
