I was raised non-denominational Christian, and converted to Catholicism in 2022. After I first met my husband, who is Catholic, I decided if we were going to get married (which I had a feeling we would one day!) I would convert to Catholicism. Why? I felt, and still feel, that it is extremely important for children to be brought up in one faith, with one cohesive set of values and beliefs. I figured (at that time) that Catholicism was "close enough" to Christianity where I could see myself converting, even though I didn't know very much (basically nothing) about it at the time!
Funnily enough, before meeting my husband, I always thought Catholics were not actually Christians. But after conversations with my husband, and going to mass with him while we were dating, I came to realize that Catholics do believe in Christ, and that they weren't so weird after all!
The more I learned about Catholicism, the more it started to make sense to me-- it answered so many questions that I had with my previous faith. It would be too much to go into detail here, but maybe I'll write a Substack post about that later when I have the time!
In this section, I link to my favorite Catholic resources and websites. I hope you find them useful and inspiring!
Foundations of Faith by Ascension Press
This class was offered at our previous parish, and my husband had been attending until our 3rd baby was born. He would get back from the classes and tell me what he learned, and I learned so much from the conversations that we had! As a cradle Catholic, he has been learning a lot from this class as well. After our 3rd baby was born and he had missed a few weeks, we decided to just "take" the class togther, and bought the online-only version which (in Feb 2026) was $5.95! What a steal! The videos are really beautiful and well done, and they do a good job of going through the foundations of Catholicism. I've been watching the videos along with my husband now, but not doing the assigned reading and I've been learning so much. When I have a bit more time, I want to revisit this (from the beginning, since I only jumped in halfway) and do the assigned readings as well.
Pints with Aquinas - Hosted by Matt Fradd
To be honest, I don't actively listen to Pints with Aquinas, BUT I have a learned a lot from the episodes though my husband paraphrasing them and talking with him about what he has learned.
Rosario app by Hozana
This application has been great for getting me started on praying the rosary every day! I am still a little daunted by the thought of doing a full rosary, but doing a decade a day has been very approachable for me.
West Coast Catholic
I love West Coast Catholic's online store. Their rosaries are beautiful and great quality, and I love the style of their home deco and jewelry.
